vyākhyātam. tathā sati varṇāśrametarāṇāmityasiddherityagre mūla eva
spaṣṭībhaviṣyati. etvaṣatve iti. `bahuvacanejhalye'dityetvam. saṃnipātaparibhāṣā

`trestrayaḥ' ityuttarārthamāvaśyakatvāditi bhāvaḥ. saptakemyavacanasya ṅasiṅyoriti
sminnādeśaṃ siddhavatkṛtyāha–sarvasminniti. śeṣamiti. śiṣyate iti śeṣaṃ. karmaṇi
ghañ. `ghañajabantāḥ puṃsī'-ti tu prāyikamiti bhāvaḥ. evamiti. sarvaśabdavadityarthaḥ. naca
sarvaśabdasya bahutvavyāpakasarvatvātmakadharmaviśeṣapravṛttinimittakatvādbahuvacanameva
nyāyyamiti vācyaṃ, sarvaśabdo hi bahvavayavārabdhasamudāye vartate. tatra

anudbhūtatvam=avivakṣitasaṃkhyākatvam. yadātvanudbhūtāvayavakau samudāyau tadā dvivacanam.
yathā sarvau vyūhāviti. yadā tūdbhūtāvayavasamudāyastadā bahuvacanam. yathā sarve janā itaci.
atha ke te sarvādayaḥ śabdāḥ ? kati ca te ? ityatrāha–sarvādayaśca pañcatiṃ?raśaditi.
pañca ca tiṃ?raśacceti dvandvaḥ, pañcādhikā tiṃ?raśaditi
śākapārthivāditvāttatpuruṣo vā. `saṅkhyāyāstatpuruṣasyopasaṅkhyānāṃ'miti ḍactu
samāsānto na bhavati. `anyatrādhikalopā'da#ityukteḥ.
gaṇāntargataṃ sūtram. `vyavasthāyāmasaṃjñāyāṃ ca pūrvādīni sapta
sarvādigaṇapraviṣṭāni veditavyānī'tyarthaḥ. sarvanāmasaṃjñā tu `sarvādīni
sarvanāmānī'tyeva sidhyati.
gaṇasūtradvayamevameva yojyam. vyavasthādiśabdā agne mūla eva vyākhyāsyante.
itiśabdaḥ–sarvādigaṇasamāpti-dyotanārthaḥ. tatra vi\ufffdāśabdo'pi sarvaśabdavadeva.
ubhaśabde tu viśeṣamāha–tatreti. sarvādiṣu madhya ityarthaḥ. ata eveti.
dvitviśiṣṭavācakatvādevetyarthaḥ. nityamiti. sarvadā dvivacanānta eva
natvekavacanabahuvacane iti yāvat. tena ṭābādi na nivāryate. nanvevaṃ sati `jasaḥ śīḥ'
`sarvanāmnaḥ smai' `ṅasiṅyoḥ smātsminau' `āmisarvanāmnaḥ suṭ' ityuktānāṃ
sarvanāmakāryāṇāṃ dvivacane'bhāvādubhaśabdasya sarvādigaṇe pāṭho vyartha ityata āha–
tasyeheti. tasya=ubhaśabdasya, iha=sarvādigaṇe, pāṭhastu ubhakāvityatra
`avyayasarvanāmnāmakacprākṭeḥ' ityakacpratyayārtha ityarthaḥ. nanu māstūbhaśabdasya
sarvādigaṇe pāṭho, māstu ca sarvanāmatā, māstu ca tatprayukto'kac.
ubhaśabdātsvārthike kapratyaye satyapi ubhakāviti rūpasiddheḥ. na ca kākacoḥ svarabhedaḥ
śahkyaḥ. `taddhitasya' iti pratyayasvareṇa vā, `citaḥ saprakṛteḥ' iti citsvareṇa
vā'ntodāttatve viśeṣā'bhāvāt. uktaṃ ca bhāṣye–`kākacoḥ' ko viśeṣaḥ ?' iti.
tatrāha–naceti. kapratyayena ubhakāvitīṣṭarūpasiddhirnacetyanvayaḥ. kuta ityata āha–
dvivacaneti. dvivacanaparatvā'bhāve ubhaśabdādayac vihitaḥ. akaci tu sati
`tanmadhyapatitastadgrahaṇena gṛhrate' iti nyāyena ubhaśabdenobhakaśabdo'pi gṛhrate. tasya
ca`ubhaka-au ityasyāṃ daśāyāṃ dvivacanaparatvādayacpratyayo na bhavati. kapratyaye tu sati
tasya ubhaśabdātparato vihitatvena tanmadhyapatitanyāyā.ñapravṛttyā ubhakaśabdasyobhaśabdena
grahaṇā'bhāvādubhaśabdasya kapratyayavyavadhānena dvivacanaparakatvā'bhāvādayaci ubhayakau iti
syāt. yathā `ubhayata' `ubhayatre'tyatra dvivacanaparakatvā'bhāvādayacpratyayo.ñasti tadva
dityarthaḥ. dvivacane sati ayacpratyayo neti yadabhihitaṃ tat `ubhayo'nyatre'ti vadatā
vārtikakṛtā uktamityarthaḥ. anyatretyetatadvyācaṣṭe-anyatra dvivacanaparatvābhāve
iti. udāhmatavārtike anyatretyanena dvivacanādanyasmin pare ityartho vivakṣitaḥ,
`anyābhāvo dvivacanaṭābviṣayatvā'diti pūrvavārtike dvivacanasyaiva prastutatvāditi
bhāvaḥ. ṭābgrahaṇaṃ tu tatrāvivakṣitamiti kaiyaṭādiṣu spaṣṭam. tataśca
sarvanāmatānimittakā'kajartha ubhaśabdasya sarvādiṣu pāṭha iti sthitam. atra yadvaktavyaṃ
tattaddhitaprakriyāyām `ubhādudātto nitya'mityatra vakṣyate. athobhayaśabde
viśeṣamāha–ubhayaśabdasyeti. ubhau avayavau yasyāvayavinaḥ sa ubhayo maṇaiḥ. `ubhādudāttaḥ'
ityayac. avayavavṛtteḥ saṅkhyāvācina ubhaśabdādavayavinyarthe'yacpratyayaḥ syā'diti
tadarthaḥ. vdyavayavārabdho maṇirityarthaḥ. maṇeravayavina ekatvādubhaya ityekavacanaṃ ubhayaśca
ubhayaśca ubhayaścetyevaṃ dvyavayavārabdhadvimaṇivivakṣāyāmubhayau maṇī iti dvivacanaṃ tu na
bhavati, `ubhayo'nyatre'tyudāhmatavārtike ubhayaśabdasya dvivacanāntādanyatraiva
prayogavidhyavagamāt. naca tatra vārtike svārthikāyajantasyaivobhayaśabdasya grahaṇaṃ,
svārthikāyajantobhaśabdopakrameṇaiva tadvārtikapravṛtteriti vācyam,

tayapsamānārthakāyajantasyāpi tatra grahaṇāvagamāt. etadevābhipretya
`taddhitaścāsarvavibhakti'rityavyayatvamubhayaśabdasya
dvivacanābhāvenā'sarvavibhaktitve'pi na bhavati, `tasilādayaḥ prākpāśapaḥ', `śasprabhṛtayaḥ
prāk samāsāntebhya,' `am', `ām' `kṛtvo'rthāḥ', `tasivatī,' nānāñā'viti

prāguktavārtikabhāṣyavirodha evetyanyatra vistaraḥ. ubhayaśabdājjasi sarvādīnīti
nityāṃ sarvanāmasaṃjñāṃ bādhitvā paratvāt `prathamacaramatayālpārdhakatipayanemāśca' iti

"vārtikakṛte"ti śeṣaḥ.ubhayo'nyatreti. ubhayeti yaḥ svārthiko'yajantaḥ so'nyatra prayujyate, na tu dvivacane parata ityarthaḥ. na ca "ubhā"vityādau dvivacanaparatvaṃ durupapādam, ubhayata āśrayaṇo'ntādivadbhāvavirahāditi vācyam; "ubhaśabdādutpannaṃ dvivacanaṃ lukā nāpahmataṃ yatra tato'nyatrāyajiti vivakṣitortha" iti manoramāyāmuktatvāt. evaṃ ca sarvādiṣūbhaśabdapāṭho'kajartha iti sthitam. bhāṣye tu--kapratyayasya svārthiṃkatvena svārthābhidhānasamarthatvādubhaśabdātparasya dvivacanaparatvamastītyāśrityobhaśabdapāṭhaḥ sarvādigaṇe pratyākhyātaḥ. manoramāyāṃ tu-bhāṣye pratyākhyānaṃ prauḍhivādamātraṃ, kṛttimasyaiva dvivacanasyeha grahītumucitātvadanyathātratasilādāvatiprasaktatvādityādi sthitam.ubhayaśabdasyeti. ubhāvayavau yasya ubhayaḥ. "ubādudātto nitya"miti tayapo'yac. nāstīti. anabhidhānāditi bhāvaḥ. tathā cobhayaśabdasya dvivacanānutpādādasarvavibhaktatvenā'vyayatve prāpte "taddhitaścāsarvavibhakti"riti sūtre "kṛttāddhitānāṃ grahaṇaṃ ca pāṭhe" iti bhāṣyaṃ kaiyaṭenāvatāritam. astīti. "pacatirūpa"mityādivāraṇena pāṭhasyopakṣīṇatvādanabhidhāne pramāṇaṃ nāstīti bhāvaḥ. tasmāditi. ubhayaśabdādityarthaḥ. tayappratyayāntatayeti. "ubhayaśabdasye"ti śeṣaḥ. yadi tūbhayaśabdādayac svatantraḥ, natu tayapa ādeśa iti niṣkarṣaḥ svīkriyate, tadā'pi "prathamacaramataye"ti vaikalpikaprāptirnāstyeveti bodhyam. nityaiveti. "ubhayā amitrā" iti tu chāndasatvādbodhyam. ḍataraḍatamāviti. "kiṃyattadornidhāraṇe dvayorekasya ḍatarac", "vā bahūnāṃ jātiparipraśne ḍatamac", ekācca prācā"miti vihitau. avyutpannāviti. etacca paspaśāyāṃ kaiyaṭe spaṣṭam. eke iti. kāśikākārāḥ. "etaṃ tvaṃ manye"ityunudāttasya, "uta tvaḥ paśyan" ityanudāttasya ca darśanāditi bhāvaḥ. eka iti. prathama ityarthaḥ. saṃhitayā pāṭhe tāntatvasyā'sphuṭatve'pi "tva"diti tāntaśchettavyaḥ. anyathā ekaśrutyā sakṛdeva paṭhet. na ca tānte vipratipattavya. "tvattvasamasimetyanuccānī"ti phiṭsūtrāt. tathāca ṛṅbhantraḥ-"starīru tvadbhavati sūta u tvat" iti. jayadevopi prāyuṅkta"tvadadharamamadhuramadhūni pibanta"miti. tvatto'nyasyā adhara iti vigraho na tu tavādhara iti, "paśyati diśi diśi rahasi bhavanta"miti pūrvavākyena sahā'nanvayāpatteḥ. sama iti. tathāca śrūyate-"mā no vṛkāya vṛkye samasmai". "uto samasmin" ityādi. "simaḥ kṛtsne ca śakte ca syānmaryādāvabaddhayoḥ". gaṇasūtra iti. yadyapi bhāṣye'ṣṭādhyāyīsthasūtre "apurīti vaktavya"miti vārtikaṃ paṭhitaṃ, tathāpi tadgaṇasūtrasyaiva śeṣo na tu jasi vibhāṣāvidhāyakasya. "ata" ityadhikṛtya jasaḥ śīvidhānādābantātprāptyabhāvāt. antarāyāmiti. prākārādbāhrāyāṃ, tadantarvirtinyāṃ vetyarthaḥ. liṅgaviśiṣṭaparibhāṣayā ekādeśasya pūrvāntatvena grahaṇādvā sarvanāsatāyāḥ prāptirbodhyā. itthaṃ sarvādigaṇaṃ vyākhyāyedānīṃ tadantargatatrisūtrīsamānākārāmaṣṭādhyāyīsthāṃ trisūtrīṃ vyācaṣṭe.
