Grammatical Sūtra: मतौ बह्वचोऽनजिरादीनाम् matau bahvaco'najirādīnām

Description:

The final vowel of a word consisting of more than two syllables is lengthened before the affix ((mat)), when it is a name, but not of the words ((ajira)) &c. Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0
