utve kṛte pūrvarūpe sati tasya laghūpadhaguṇo na bhavati tasmin kartavye
bahirbhūtaśaspratyayāpekṣabhasaṃjñāpekṣasaṃprasāraṇāśrita pūrvarūpasya
bahiraṅgatayā'trā'siddhatvāt. tathāca guṇā'bhāve praṣṭha-u-āhiti sthite pūrvarūpe

ṇau caṅītyekārasya hyasvena ikāre sati nāyamedhadhāturiti vācyam,
ekadeśavikṛtasyānanyatvāt. atra māṅaṃ vihāya predidhaditi na pratyudāhmatam. tathā
sati āḍajādīnāmityāḍāgame āṭaśceti vṛddhau aididhaditi syāt. tatra
edhaterejāditvādvṛddhiriṣṭaiva. bhavacchabdastu cintyaprayojanaḥ. nanu ā ihi,
ādguṇaḥ, ehi, ava-ehīti sthite ekādeśasya guṇasya ekārasya antādivacceti
parādivadbhāvena, `ādyantavadekasmi'nniti vyapadeśivadbhāvena ca , ca
iṇ?dhātorejāditvāttasmin pare `eṅipararūpa'miti pararūpaṃ bādhitvā
etyedhatyatyūṭh?sviti vṛddhau `avaihī'ti iṣṭaṃ na syāt. na ca omāṅośceti pararūpeṇa
tannirvāhaḥ śaṅkyaḥ. etyedhatīti vṛddhirhi yathā eṅi pararūpamityasyāpavādastathā
omāṅityasyāpyapavādaḥ;yena nāprāptinyāyasāmyādityata āha–purastāditi.
`purastādapavādā anantarānvidhīnbādhante nottarā'niti nyāyaḥ. pūrvapaṭhitā apavādā
avyavahitānevottararānvidhīnbādhante na tu vyavahitānityarthaḥ. prakṛte ca
etyedhatyūṭhsu ityuttaraṃ kānicit sūtrāṇi paṭhitvā `eṅi pararūpa'miti paṭhitvā
punaḥ katipayasūtrāṇi paṭhitvā punaḥ omāṅośceti paṭhitam. tataścoktanyāyena
`etyedhatī'ti vṛddhyā `eṅi pararūpa'mityeva bādhyate na tvomāṅośceti pararūpamapīti
bhāvaḥ. vastutastu etyedhatīti vṛddhiromāṅoścātyasyāpavāda eva na bhavati,

nottarā'niti nyāyenetyarthaḥ. akṣāditi. `ā'dityanuvartate, `acī'ti ca. tena
pūrvaparayorvarṇayoreva bhavati. evamanyatrāpyūhram.\r\nakṣādūhinyāmupasaṅkhyānam.
akṣauhiṇīti. ūhaḥ=samūhaḥ, so'styasyāḥ sā ūhinī. akṣāṇāmūhinīti vigrahaḥ.
parimāṇaviśeṣaviśiṣṭā senā akṣauhiṇī. `pūrvapadātsaṃjñāyām-' iti ṇatvam.
`akṣaṇā'mityasya `ūha'-śabdena samāse tata inau tu `akṣauhiṇī'tyeva bhavati, na tu tatra
vṛddhiḥ, antaraṅgeṇa guṇena bādhāt. apavādabhūtāyā api vṛddherūhinīśabdena samāse
caritārthatvāt. yathoktaṃ prāk `yadyapavādo'nyatra caritārthastarhi
parāntaraṅgabhyāṃ bādhyate' iti.
kvācitko'papāṭhaḥ. `svairī'ti ṇinyantasya astriyāṃ vṛdhdyabhāvaprasaṅgāt.
`īri'ngrahaṇasya phalamāha-sveneritumiti. yadā tvī(raṇamī)ra iti ghañantena svaśabdasya
samāse `svādīre' iti vṛddhau kṛtāyāṃ matvarthīya iniḥ, yadā vā
matvarthīyenipratyayāntena īriñśabdena svaśabdasya samāsastadāpi tadekadeśa
īraśabdo'styeveti pṛthagīringrahaṇaṃ vyarthaṃ syāditi bhāvaḥ.svairīti. `supyajātau'
