Grammatical Sūtra: कर्षात्वतो घञोऽन्त उदात्तः karṣātvato ghaño'nta udāttaḥ

Description:

A stem formed with the Kṛita-affix ((ghañ)) has the acute accent on the end-syllable, if it is formed from the root ((kṛṣ)) (((kṛṣti))) or has a long ((ā)) in it. Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0

The final syllable (ánta-ḥ) of an expression [ending in 1.1.72 the kr̥t 3.1.93 affix 3.1.1] GHaÑ bears the udātta accent when it is derived from [the verbal stem 3.1.91] kr̥ṣ- `draw, drag' (VI 6) or from those containing the vowel phoneme long /ā/ (āT-vat-aḥ).
