parimāṇopādhikāt prathamāsamarthādasya iti ṣaṣṭhyarthe yathāvihitaṃ pratyayo bhavati.
saṃjñāsaṅghasūtrādhyayaneṣu iti pratyayārthaviśeṣaṇam. tatra saṃjñāyāṃ svārthe
pratyayo vācyaḥ. pañcaiva pañcakāḥ śakunayaḥ. trikāḥ śālaṅkāyanāḥ. saṅgha pañca parimāṇam

"parimāṇopādhikāt()" iti. parimāṇamupādhirviśeṣaṇaṃ na sambhavati, na hi śabdaḥ parimāṇaṃ śabdasya sambhavatīti? tadarthasya viseṣaṇaṃ vijñāsyata ityadoṣaḥ. nanu cārthasyāpi na sambhavati, saṃkhyā hi naiva parimāṇam()? naiṣa doṣaḥ; nātra rūḍhaḥ parimāṇaśabdo gṛhrate, kiṃ tarhi? kriyāśabdaḥ--parimāyate yena tat? parimāṇamiti. saṃkhyāyāpi ca parimīyata iti sāpi parimāṇam(). nanvevamapi viśeṣaṇamanarthakam; na hraparicchedikā saṃkhyāsti, sañcakṣāṇā hi saṃkhyocyate? satadyam(); paricchedikaiva saṃkhyā, sā tu svasyābhideyaṃ paricchinattīti ṣaṣṭha()rthamavaśyaṃ na paricchinatti. pañcāsya saṅghasya putrā iti nātra sahghasyeyattā pratīyate. iha tu pañcasaṃkhyā parimāṇamasya saṅghasyeti bhavatīyattāpratītiḥ saṅghasya. tasmādupapannaṃ saṃkhyāyāḥ parimāṇaṃ viśeṣaṇam().
"tatra" ityādi. pañcaśabdo'yaṃ saṃkhyeya eva vatrtate, na kadācidapi saṃkhyānamātre. tataśca ya eva saṃkhyeyāḥ pañcatvasaṃkhyayāvacchinnāḥ pañcaśabdenocyante, pratyayāntenāpi ta eva na hi teṣāṃ bhinnānāmatra saṃkhyeyāntaraṃ parimāṇaṃ pratyayavākyaṃ sambhavapati. tasmāt? saṃjñāyāṃ svārthaṃ eva pratyayo vācyaḥ. tathā cāha vārttikakāraḥ--"saṃjñāyāṃ svārthe utpadyate" iti.
"pañcako'dhītaḥ" iti pāṭhāpekṣayā puṃlliṅgaḥ. "adhītiradhyayanam()" iti. anena bhāvasādhanamadhyayanaśabdaṃ darśayati. yadyadhīyata ityadhyayanaṃ karmasādhano'dyayanaśabdaḥ syāt(), sūtragrahaṇaṃ pṛthagvaktavyaṃ na syāt(); adhyayanagrahaṇenaiva siddhatvāt(), sūtramapyadhīyata eva. "pañcāvṛttyaḥ" iti pāṭhe punaḥ kriyātmikāḥ pañca vārā ityādinā paryāyāntareṇa pañcāvṛttya ityasyaivārthaṃ vyaktīkaroti.
"stome ḍavidhiḥ" iti. atrāpi cchandasīti sambadhyate. mantrasamudāyaḥ stomaḥ. "ekaviṃśaḥ" iti. "ato guṇe" 6.1.94 pararūpatvaṃ ca, "ti viṃśaterḍiti 6.4.142 iti tiśabdalopaḥ.
