"lyuḍādiṣu katham" iti. īkāro bhavatīti śeṣaḥ. ādiśabdena "gāpoṣṭak" 3.2.8 ityevamādayo gṛhrante. lyuḍādīnāmapi dvyanubandhakatvāṭṭidgrahaṇena bhavitavyam, atastadantebhyo ṅībna syāt, tataścaka karaṇī, sāmagītyādi na sidhyet. "ṭitkaraṇasāmathryāt" iti. yadi teṣāmapi ṭid()grahaṇena grahaṇaṃ na syāṭṭitkaraṇamanarthakaṃ syāt; prayojanāntarāsambhavāt. tasmāt satyapi dvyanubandhakatve ṭitkaraṇasāmathryāllyuḍādayo gṛhranta ityadoṣaḥ. laṭo'pi tarhi ṭitkaraṇasāmathryādeva grahaṇena bhavitavyamityata āha--"itaratra" iti. laṭi hi ṭitkaramasya "ṭita ātmanepadānāṃ ṭere" 3.4.79 iti ṭeretvaṃ phalam. ato yadyapi grahaṇaṃ na bhavati, tathāpi naiva ṭitkaraṇasya vaiyathryaṃ prasajyeta. tasmāt ṭitkaraṇasāmathryāllyuḍādayo gṛhranta ityadoṣaḥ. laṭo'pi tarhi ṭitkaraṇasāmathryādeva grahanena bhavitavyamityata āha--"itaratra" iti. laṭi hi ṭitkaraṇasya "ṭita ātmanepadānāṃ ṭere" 3.4.79 iti ṭeretvaṃ phalam. ato yadyapi tasyedaṃ grahaṇaṃ na bhavati, tathāpi naiva ṭitkaraṇasya vaiyathryaṃ prasajyeta. tasmāt ṭitkaraṇasya caritārthatvādayuktaṃ tasyedaṃ grahaṇam.
"paṭhitā vidyā" iti. atrāpi kathamiti sambadhyate. iḍāgamasya hi pratyayabhaktatvāt pratyayasya ṭittvamasti, tatasca ṅīpā bhavitavyam, tatkathaṃ paṭhitetyetadrūpaṃ bhavatīti?"āgamaṭittvamanimittam" iti. prakṛtatvāt ṅīpa iti vijñāyate. kathaṃ jñāyate'yamanimittamityāha--"ṭa()uṭa()ulau" ityādi. tuḍ vetyāgamaṭittvenaiva siddhe ṅīpi "sāyaṃciraṃ prāhṇa" 4.3.23 ityādisūtre "ṭa()uṭa()ulau" iti punaḥ pratyayoṣṭatkaraṇaṃ jñāpakam--- āgamaṭittvamanimittvaṃ ṅīpa iti.
"soparṇeyī,vainateyī" iti. suparṇīśabdājjātilakṣamaṅīṣantādvinatāśabdācca ṭābantāt "strībhyo ḍhak" 4.1.120 iti ḍhak. āyamannādi 7.1.2 sūtreṇaiyādeśaḥ. nanu ca "niranubandhakagrahaṇe na sānubandhakasya" (vyā.pa.53) iti ḍhako grahaṇena na bhavitavyamityata āha-- "niranubandhako ḍhaśabdaḥ" ityādi. nanu cāyaṃ niranubandhako'sti "śilāyāḥ ḍhaḥ" (5.3.102) iti? naitadasti; svabhāvata eva hrayaṃ napusaṃke vatrtate. ayaṃ tahrrasti svābhāvyāt-- "{sabhāyā ḍhaśchandasi iti mudritaḥ pāṭhaḥ} sabhāyā yaḥ" 4.4.104 "ḍhaśchandasi" (4.4.106) iti? ayamapi naiva striyāṃ vatrtate, chandasi sabheyīśabdasya prayogādarśanāt. tasmānnaranubandhako ḍhaśabda striyāṃ nāstīti neha niranubandhakaparibhāṣopatiṣṭhate; anyathā hi ḍhagrahamamanarthakaṃ syāt.
"ṇe'pi" iti. aṇi yat kāryaṃ kṛtaṃ taṇṇe'pi kvaciditi kvacinna bhavatītyuktaṃ bhavati. kva punarṇe'pyaṇkṛtaṃ kāryaṃ bhavatīti? tācchīlike. tathā hi "kārmastācchīlye" 6.4.172 ityatra jñāpitametat- ṇe'pyaṇkṛtaṃ kāryaṃ bhavatīti, katham? kārmaśabdo hi tācchīlye ṭilopārthaṃ nipātyate. yadi na ṇe'pyaṇkṛtaṃ kāryaṃ na syāt nipātanamanarthakaṃ syāt. karmaśabdāt karma śīlamasyeti "chattrādibhyo ṇaḥ" 4.4.62 iti ṇe kṛte "nastaddhite" 6.4.144 ityevaṃ ṭilopasya siddhatvāt. "an" (6.4.167) iti prakṛtibhāvānna sidhyatīti cet? naitadasti; aṇi hi prakṛtibhāva ucyate, tatra "inaṇyanapatye" 6.4.64 ityato'ṇītyanuvatrtate. tadevaṃ "tācchīlike ṇe'pyaṇi kṛtaṃ kāryaṃ bhavati" ityasyārthasya jñāpitatvāt tatraivāṇkṛtaṃ kāryaṃ bhavati, nānyatra. " caurī, tāpasī" iti. curā śīlamasyāstapaḥ śīlamasyā iti "chattrādibhyo ṇaḥ" 4.4.62 ṇe'pyaṇkṛtaṃ bhavatīti ṅīp. "autsī, audapānī" iti. utsasyodapānasyeyamiti "utsādibhyo'ñ" 4.1.86 ityañ. atha "śāṅrgaravādyaño ṅīn" 4.1.73 ityatra punarañgrahaṇaṃ kimarthaṃ kriyate,.yāvatānenaiva siddham, tadeva hi rūpaṃ sa eva hi svaraḥ, tathā hi-- ṅīni sati "ñnityādirnityam" 6.1.191 ityādyudāttaṃ bhavati,autsītyatrāpyutsaśabdādañantānñitsvareṇādyudāttānṅīpi kṛte tadevādyudāttatvaṃ bhavati? ityāha-- "śāṅrgarvādyañaḥ" ityādi. bidasyāpatyaṃ gotraṃ strīti "anṛṣyānantaryye bidādibhyo'ñ" 4.1.104 ityañi kṛte tasya "gotrañca caraṇaiḥ saha" (kā.vṛ.4.1.63) iti jātitvāt "jāterastrīviṣayādayopadhāt" 4.1.63 iti ṅīṣ prāpnoti. tadbādhānārthaṃ punaḥ "śāṅrgaravādyaño ṅīn" 4.1.73 ityatrāño grahamaṃ kriyate. yadyevam, ihāñgrahamaṃ na katrtavyam, tenaivotsītyāderapi siddhatvāt? naitadasti; jātigrahaṇaṃ tatra "ito manuṣyajāteḥ" 4.1.65 ityato'nuvatrtate "puṃyogādākhyāyām" 4.1.48 ityādināñ baidaḥ, tasya bhāryā baidīti, tasya puṃyoga ṅīṣeveṣyate, tasmāt tatra jātigrahaṇamanuvatrtanīyam. ta()smaścānuvatrtamāna autsītyatrotsasyeyamityarthavivakṣāyāmañi kṛte'jātitvādīkārastatra na prāpnoti,tasmādihāpyañgrahaṇaṃ katrtavyameva.
dvayasajādīnāmanubandhoccāraṇaṃ pratyayaparigrahārtham. prātipadikānyapi dvyasajādīni santi, tatrāsatyanubandhoccāraṇe teṣāmapi grahaṇaṃ vijñāyeta. tayaśabdo'pi "aya vaya taya {ṇaya-dhā.pā.} naya gatau" (dhā.pā.474,485,479,480) iti tayo dhātorajantaṃ prātipadikaṃ sambhavati, atastannivṛttyrathaṃ pakāroccāraṇam.
"ūrudvayasī" ityādi. ūrupramāṇamasyāḥ, jānupramāṇasyā iti "pramāṇe dvayasajdaghnañmātracaḥ" 5.2.37 iti dvayasajādayaḥ pratyayāḥ.
"pañcatayī" iti.pañcāvayavā asyā iti "saṃkhyāyā avayave tayap" 5.2.42.
"ākṣikī, śālākikī" iti. akṣairdīvyati śalākābhirdīvyatīti "tena dīvyatikhanati" 4.4.2 ityādinā ṭhak, ṭhasyekādeśaḥ.
"lāvaṇikī" iti. lavaṇaṃ paṇyamasyā iti "lavaṇāṭṭhañ" 4.4.52. atha kimarthaṃ ṭhakṭhañaurbhedenopādānām? na viśeṣakarānubandhānutsṛjya "ṭha"iti sāmānyenaiva grahaṇaṃ kriyetetyata āha-- "bhedena" ityādi. "ṭha" iti sāmānyena grahaṇe sati ṭhanādīnāmapi grahaṇaṃ syāt, atastannivṛttyai bhedena grahaṇam. ādiśabdo ñiṭhādīnāṃ parigrahāya, tena daṇḍo'syāstīti "ata iniṭhanau" 5.2.114 iti ṭhani kṛte daṇḍikīti na bhavati, kāśiṣu bhaveti "kāśyādibhyaṣṭhāññiṭhau" 4.2.115 iti ñiṭhe pratyaye kṛte kāśikīti na bhavati.
kañonubandhagrahaṇaṃ "āto'nupasarge kaḥ" 3.2.3 ityevādīnāṃ nivṛttyartham. "yādṛśī, tādṛśī" iti. "tyadādiṣu dṛśeranālocane kañca" 3.2.60 iti kañ, "ā sarvanāmnaḥ" 6.3.90 iti yattadorāttvam. kvarapo'nubandhoccāraṇaṃ "stheśabhāsa" 3.2.175 ityādinā vihitasya varaco nivṛtyartham. yadyevam, eka evānubandha uccāraṇīyaḥ, ekenāpi varaco nivṛttiḥ sidhyatyeva? satyametat, tathāpi mandabuddhīnāṃ sukhapratipattaye'nubandhadvayoccāraṇam.

khyuno'nubandhoccāraṇaṃ lāghavārtham; anayathā hi ṣaṣṭhībahuvacane kṛte nuṭi nāmi dīrghatve ca guruccāraṇaṃ syāt. "āḍha()ṅkaraṇī" iti. anāḍha() āḍhyaḥ kriyate'nayeti "āḍha()subhaga" 3.2.56 ityādinā khyun, "arurdviṣadajantadasya mum" 6.3.66.
nañsnañīkak" ityādi. upasaṃkhyānaśabdasya pratipādanamarthaḥ. tatredaṃ pratipādanam-- uttarasūtre cakāro'nuktasamucyārthaḥ, tena nañādibhyo'pi bhaviṣyatīti. "straiṇī,pausnī" iti. striyā iyam, puṃsa iyamiti "strīpuṃsābhyāṃ naṅasnañau bhavanāt" 4.1.87 iti nañsañau. "ata iniṃṭhanau". kāśyāṃ bhavā kāśikā. "kāśyādibhyaṣṭhaññiṭhau" iti ñiṭhaḥ. yādṛśīti. "tyadādiṣu dṛśaḥ" iti yacchabde upapade kañ, "ā sarvanāmnaḥ" iti yacchabdasyākāraḥ. ṅīp, "yasyeti ca". itvarīti. "iṇ gatau" "iṇnaśajisartibhyaḥ kvarap ". "hyasvasya piti kṛti" iti tuk. itvaraśabdānṅīp. "yasyeti ca". "stheśabhāse"ti varaco vyāvṛttaye kakārānubandhagrahaṇam. "vinyastamaṅgalamahauṣadhirī()ārāyāḥ" iti bhāraviḥ. "sainamī()ārāpradaha" iti vede. kvarapi anyatarānubandhenaiva varaco vyāvṛttisiddheranubandhadvayopādānaṃ spaṣṭārtham. ī()ārī tu ī()āraśabdādī()ārasya strīti puṃyoga ṅīṣ. athavā "asnoterāśukarmaṇi varaṭ ce"ti varaḍantāṭṭhittvānṅīp. yadvā "āto maninkvanibvanipaśca" anyebhyo'pi "dṛśyate" iti kvānipi vanipi ca "vano ra ce"ti ṅībrāau.tācchīlike ṇe'pīti. tacchīle bhavastacchīlikaḥ. tacchīlārthaka iti yāvat. tasmin ṇapratyaye sati tadantādapi ṅībbhavatītyarthaḥ. jñepakasiddhametat. tathāhi--"śīla"mityanuvṛttau "chatrādibhyo ṇaḥ" iti vihite ṇapratyaye'ṇkāryaṃ bhavati, "kārmastācchīlye" iti jñāpakāt. karma śīvamasyeti vigrahe chatrāditvāṇṇapratyaye "nastaddhite" iti ṭilope, "kārma" iti bhavati, natu "an" iti sūtreṇa aṇyan prakṛtyā syādityarthakena prakṛtibhāva iti tadarthaḥ. atra aṇi vihitasya prakṛtibhāvasya ṇapratyaye parataḥ pratiṣedhāttācchīlike ṇupratyaye'ṇkāryaṃ vijñāyate. atastācchīlikaṇapratyayāntādaṇkāryaṃ ṅīb bhavatīti bhāvaḥ. caurīti. curā śīlamasyā iti vigrahaḥ. chatrāditvāṇṇaḥ. ādivṛddhiḥ. "yasyeti ca". cauraśabdānṅīpi, "yasyeti ca".nañsanñ. nañ, snañ, īkak, khyun, taruṇa, taluna--eteṣāmapi ṅībvidhivacanaṃ kartavyamityarthaḥ. nañādayaścatvāraḥ. pratyayāḥ, atastadantavidhiḥ. strauṇī pauṃsnīti. "strīpuṃsābhyām" iti nañsnañau. tatra strīśabdānnañi, ādivṛddhiḥ, ṇatvam, ṅīp, "yasyeti ca". puṃsśabdātsnañi, ādivṛddhiḥ, ṅīp, "yasyeti ca". śāktīkīti. śaktiḥ-āyudhaviśeṣaḥ praharaṇamasyā iti vigrahaḥ. "śakiṃ()tayaṣṭha()orīkak". ādivṛddhiḥ, ṇatvam, ṅīp, "yasyeti ca". āḍha()ṅkaraṇīti. anāḍha() āḍhyaḥ kriyate anayeti vigrahaḥ. "āḍha()subhage"tyādinā khyun. "yuvoḥ" ityanādeśaḥ. "arurdviṣat" iti mum, ṇatvam, ṅīp, "yasyeti ca". taruṇī talunīti. yadyapyanayoḥ "vayasi prathame" ityeva ṅīpsiddhaḥ, tathāpi gaurādiṣu pāṭhānṅīṣi prāpte idaṃ vacanam. gaurādipāṭhānṅīṣi svare viśeṣa iti bhāvaḥ.
