Description:

After the roots 'sthâ' (to stand), 'gâ' (to sing) 'pâ' (to drink) and 'pach' (to cook), the affix 'ktin' is employed, when a word in the feminine gender denoting a 'mere action' is to be expressed. Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0

[The kŕt 1.1 affix 1.1 KtiN 94 is introduced after 1.2 the verbal stems 1.91] sthā- `stay, remain, stand' (I 975), gā (=gai- I 965) `sing', pā- `drink' (I 972) and pac- `cook' (1.1.45) to form action nouns (bhāv-é) [in the feminine gender 94].
