dhātoḥ karmaṇaḥ samānakarttṛkādicchāyāṃ vā. , 3.1.7 karttṛḥ kriyayā vyāptumiṣṭatamasya karmabhāva upapadyate. nānyathetyavaśyaṃ yā kācit kriyā'pekṣitavyeti. iha cānyā na śrūyate, pratyayārthatvena cecchā sannidhāpitā, ataḥ saivāpekṣituṃ yuktā; pratyāsattenryāyāt,tasmāt, tayaiva vyāpyamānasya karmabhāvo vijñāyata ityāha-- "iṣikarma" ityādi. iṣeḥ karmeti ṣaṣṭhīsamāsaḥ. pratiyogyapekṣatvāt samānatvasya niyogataḥ pratiyogyapekṣitavyaḥ, na ca sūtre pratiyogī śrūyate, tatra pūrvoktanyāyeneṣereva pratiyogitvaṃ vijñāyata ityāha--- "iṣiṇaiva" ityādi. samāna ekaḥ katrtāsyeti bahuvrīhiḥ, ekakarttṛka ityarthaḥ. nanu caṭa dhātoḥ karmatvaṃ nopapadyate, tasyārthadharmatvāt, dhātośca śabdātmakatvāt. atha karoti dhātumicchatītyādau prayoge dhātorapi karmatā dṛṣṭeti cet? na brāūmaḥ-- sarvathā dhātoḥ karmatvaṃ na bhavatīti, kiṃ tarhi? ya iha sannutpattinimittabhāvanopāttaḥ samānakarttṛkaḥ, tasya na sambhavatīti brāūmaḥ; yasmāt samānakarttṛkatvaṃ sādhyamānasyārthasya bhavati, karmatvaṃ tu siddhasvabhāvasya. aṅgīkṛtya ca samānakarttṛkatvaṃ dhātoḥ karmatve doṣa uktaḥ idānīṃ tadapi na sambhavatyeva. tathā hi-- dhātuḥ śabdaḥ kriya#āyāśca katrtā bhavati, na śabdasyetat āha-- "karmatvam" ityādi. "arthadvārakam" iti. artho dvāramupāyo yasya tadarthadvārakamiti. arthasya karmatvāt samānakarttṛkatvācca tadvacano'pi dhāturarthadharmeṇopacārāt karmasamānakarttṛkaścocyate, yathā--- "dvandvaśca prāṇitūrya" 2.4.2 ityatrārthasya prāṇyaṅgatvāt tadvacano'pi prāmāyaṅgamityucyata iti bhāvaḥ. "cikīrṣati" ityatra karoterartha icchayā vyāpyamānatvāt samānatvāt karmasamānakarttṛkaśceṣiṇā; yasmāt ya eveṣeḥ katrtā sa eva tasyāpi. atastaddvāreṇa karotirapi karmasamānakarttṛkaśceti bhāvaḥ. tataḥ san, "iko jhal" 1.2.9 iti sanaḥ kittvāt guṇabhāvaḥ, "ajjhanagamāṃ sani" (6.4.16 iti dīrghaḥ, "ṛta iddhātoḥ" 7.1.100 itīttvam, raparatvam, "hali ca" 8.2.77 iti dīrghaḥ, "iṇkoḥ" 8.3.57 ityanuvatrtamāne "ādeśapratyayayoḥ" 8.3.59 iti ṣatvam, dvirvacanam, abhyāsakāryam.
dhātugrahaṇaṃ kimiti. dhātugrahaṇaṃ hrevamarthaṃ kriyate-- gamanamicchatīti subanthānmā bhūditi. nanu cāsatyapi dhātugrahaṇe tataḥ san bhavituṃ notsahate; "supa ātmanaḥ kyac" 3.1.8 itpapavādena bādhitatvāt, tasmāt pāriśeṣyādvināpi dhātugrahaṇena dhātoreva bhaviṣyatītyabhiprāyeṇāha-- "sopasargādutpattirmā bhūt" iti. yadopasargaviśiṣṭo dhātvartha iṣiṇā vyāpyate tadāsāvupasargaviśiṣṭa eva karmatvamanubhavatīti tadadvāreṇāsau sopasarga eva dhātuḥ. karmeti sopasargādutpattiḥ syāt,tataśca prācikīrṣadityatra dvirvacanaṃ kriyamāṇaṃ sannantasyaikācaḥ prathamasya dvirvacanaṃ bhavatīti "sanyaṅoḥ" 6.1.9 iti samudāyādeḥ praśabdasya syāt. laṅi ca sopasargasyāṅgasaṃjñāyāṃ tataḥ prāgaḍāgamaḥ syāt. yadi tarhi sopasargaḥ, karmadhātorutpattirna syāt, tasyākarmakatvāt? naitadasti, samudāyasya hi karmatve'vayavā apikmatvamanubhavanti;avayavātmakatvāt samudāyasya. abhyupāya eva hravayavakarmatā samudāyakarmatāyāḥ; anyathā yadi samudāye karmaṇyavayavāḥ karmabhāvāpannā na bhaveyuḥ, tadā mahāntaṃ putramicchatītyatra karmalakṣaṇāvayavā dvitīyā na syāt. " gamenenecchati" iti. karaṇatvapradarśanārthaṃ lyuhantopanyāsaḥ. dhātoreva hi sano'nutpattiḥ pratyudāharaṇam. astyatra samānakarttṛkatvam. tathā hi--- ya eveṣeḥ katrtā sa eva gamanasya, sa hrātmīyena gamanena karaṇabhāvamāpannena kimapi vastvicchati. kmatvaṃ tu gamerarthadvārakaṃ nāstīti na bhavatyataḥ san. "devadattasya bhojanamicchati" iti. devadattasyeti "katrtakarmaṇoḥ kṛti" 2.3.65 iti katrtari ṣaṣṭhī. atra hi bhojanasya devadattaḥ katrtā, iṣestu yajñadatta iti samānakarttṛkatvaṃ nāsti. "kartuṃ jānāti" iti. icchāgrahaṇādiha jñāne'rthe sanna bhavati. nanu ceṣikarmā yo dhātu riṣiṇaiva samānakarttṛkastata icchāyā vā san bhavatītyuktam. iha ca yathecchā pratyayārtho nāsti tathā dhātoriṣikarmatvamapi, iṣiṇā samānakarttṛkatvañca, tadayuktaṃ pratyudāharaṇam, aṅgatrayavaikalyāt? naitadasti, sati hīcchāgrahaṇe tadviśeṣaṇadvayaṃ pratyāsatterlabhyate. asati tu tasmin yāṃ kāñcit kriyāṃ prati dhātoḥ karmatvaṃ vijñāyate, pratiyogimātrāpekṣayā ca samānakarttṛkatvamiti kā'trāyuktatā !
"vāvacanādvākyamapi bhavati" iti. uttarasūtra iti śeṣaḥ. iha tu "samānakarttṛkeṣu tumun" 3.3.158 ityata eva vidhānāt karttṛmicchatīti vākyaṃ bhaviṣyati. nityatvehi sanastasya vacanasyānarthakyaṃ syāt. anyadapi vāvacanaprayojanamuktameva, tasyai samuccayārtho'piśabdaḥ. "dhātoriti vidhānāt" ityādi. "ārdhadhātuke śeṣaḥ" 3.4.114 ityanena dhātorityevaṃ dhātuśabdamuccārya vihitasya pratyayasyārdhadhātukasaṃjñāvidhānāt. iha dhātorityeva sano vidhānamityārdhadhātukasaṃjñā na bhavati, na hi tasya tathā vidhānamasti.
"āśaṅkāyāmupasaṃkhyānam" iti. āśaṅkā = sambhāvanā, sā ca prayoktṛdharmaḥ. "nadīkūlaṃ pipatiṣati" ityacetanatvāt kūlasyecchā na sambhavatīti na prāpnoti. "āśaṅke kūlaṃ patiṣyati" ityasmin viṣaya evaṃ prayogaḥ. "()āā mumūrṣati" iti. pūrvavat kittvadīrghatve. "udoṣṭha()pūrvasya" 7.1.102 ittyuktam; raparatvañca. atra satyapi cetanatve jīnasya priyatvācchuno martumicchā na sambhavatīti na prāpnoti. eṣa ca prayogaḥ "ahamāśaṅkemariṣyati ()āā" ityatrārthe veditavyaḥ. upasaṃkhyānaśabdasya pratipādanamarthaḥ. katrtavya ityavyāhāryam. pratipādanaṃ tu-- dhātoriti yogavibhāgaḥ katrtavyaḥ, tenāśaṅkāyāmapi san bhaviṣyati.
"icchāsanantāt" ityādi. icchāyāmarthe yo vihitaḥ san tadantāt sanaḥ pratiṣedho vyākhyeyaḥ. vyākhyānaṃ tūttaratra kariṣyāmaḥ. svārthe yaḥ san tadantāt saniṣyata evetīcchāviśeṣaṇaṃ kṛtam. "jugupsiṣate" iti. "ato lopaḥ" 6.4.48 ityakāralopaḥ.
"śaiṣikāt" ityādi. a()āptayādibhyo'rthebhyo'dūrabhava ityetatparyantebhyo'nyo yo'rthaḥ sa śeṣaḥ, tatra bhavaḥ śaiṣikaḥ, "adhyātmādibhyaṣṭhañ" (vā.456). tasmācchaiṣikaḥ sarūpaḥ pratyayo naṣṭaḥ. śālāyāmbhava iti "vṛddhācchaḥ" 4.2.113 śālīyaḥ, śālīye bhava iti punaścho na bhavati. virūpastu bhavatyeva-- ahicchatre bhava āhicchatraḥ, "prāgdīvyato'ṇ" 4.1.83 āhicchatre bhava āhicchatrīyaḥ-- aṇantādvṛddhāccho 4.2.113 bhavati. matubarthe bhavaḥ pratyayo matubarthīyaḥ, "gahādibhyaśca" 4.2.137 iti cchaḥ, matubartho'syāstīti matubarthikaḥ pratyayaḥ, "ata iniṭhanau" 5.2.114 iti ṭhan. matubartho'syāstītimatubarthīyāt pratyayānmatubarthikaḥ sarūpaḥ pratyayo neṣṭaḥ. daṇḍo'syāstīti daṇḍikaḥ, pūrvavaṭṭhan, daṇḍiko'syāstīti matubarthīyāt punaṣṭhan na bhavati. virūpastu bhavatyeva-- daṇḍo'syāstīti daṇḍī, daṇḍino'syāṃ śālāyāṃ santīti daṇḍamatī śālā, innantānmatup bhavati. "sannatānna saniṣyate" iti. "sarūpaḥ" iti sambadhyate. tatra yadyapi sano rūpasārūpyavyabhicāro nāsti, tathāpi viśeṣaṇasāmathryādarthasārūpyamāśrīyate. tenecchāsanantāditi gamyate, pūrvam "icchāsanantātpratiṣedho vaktavyaḥ" (vā.181) ityabhidhānācca. yastu nindādiṣu gupādibhyaḥ san tat icchāsan bhavatyeva. tathā caivaṃ vṛttādudāhmatam.etatsarvaṃ nyāyaprāptamevodāhmatam. katham? niṣpannā hi prakṛtiḥ pratyayavidhernimittaṃ bhavati. na ca sarūpaśaiṣikapratyayavidhānakāle tathāvidhapratyayānatā niṣpannā prakṛtirasti, nāpi sarūpamatubarthikapratyayavidhānakāle tathāvidhapratyayāntā niṣpannā prakṛtiḥ, nāpīcchāsani vidhīyamāna icchāsanantāt prakṛtirlabdhasattākāsti; idānīmeva hi "tatra bhavaḥ" 4.3.53 ityādibhirlakṣaṇaiḥ sarūpāṇāṃ śaiṣikādīnāṃ bhāvyamānatvāt. tasmādavidyamānaprakṛtikatvāt te yathoktaprakārāyāḥ prakṛterna sambhavantīti॥
