Description:

There is luk-elision of the Gotra-affix ((iñ)) (IV. I.95) after a word containing many vowels (a polysyllabic word) which denotes the Gotra of the people called ((prācya)) and ((bharata)) when the word takes the plural. Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0

[luK (0̸¹) 58 replaces the gotrá affix 63] iÑ introduced after a polysyllabic (bahu=áCaḥ) (nominal stem) denoting the Prācyá (eastern) and Bharatá gotrás [when the stem ending in that affix by itself indicates plurality 62].
