Description:

After a word ending with the Gotra affix ((ṇya)) (4.1.151 and after a Gotra word denoting the descendant of a Kshatriya or a Rishi (seer), and after a word ending with a Gotra affix having an indicatory ((ñ)), the affix ((aṇ)) and ((iñ)) employed in forming ((yuvan)) (IV.1.163) descendants, are elided by the substitution of ((luk))|| Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0

luK (1.1.61 0̸¹) replaces the affixes áṆ and iÑ introduced after a nominal stem (ending in 1.1.72) the patronymic affix Ṇyá (4.1.151) or in an affix denoting the gotrá descendant (4.1.162) of a kṣatríya `warrior' class or of ŕṣi `sage' (4.1.114) or one co-occurring with marker Ñ as IT, all denoting a yúvan (4.1.163) descendant.
