Grammatical Sūtra: सुबामन्त्रिते पराङ्गवत्‌ स्वरे subāmantrite parāṅgavat‌ svare

Description:

A word ending in sup or a case affix, when followed by a word in the vocative case, is regarded as if it was the aṅga or component part of such subsequent vocative word, when a rule relating to accent is to be applied. Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0

[An expression ending in 1.1.72] sUP triplets occurring before a vocative (āmantrite) [with which it is semantically and syntactically connected 1] is treated as an integral part of the subsequent pre-affixal stem (para=aṅgavát) with respect to accentuation (sváre).
