atha tadādigrahaṇaṃ kimartham? yāvātā vinā'pi tena "yasmāt pratyayavidhiḥ pratyaye'ṅgam" ityetāvatyucyamāne yattadornityābhisambandhādyasmātpratyayo vidhīyate tatpratyaye parato'ṅgasaṃjñā bhavatītyeṣo'rtho labhyata ityata āha-- "tadādivanacam" ityādi. asati tadādītyetasmin yasmādeva pratyayo vidhīyate tasyaivāṅgatvaṃ syāt, na tu sarvasya sahasyādeḥ, nāpi sanumkasya samudāyasya; tataḥ pratyayasyādivihitatvat. tadādigrahaṇe sati yasmāt pratyayo vidhīyate sa ādiryasya śabdarūpasya tat tadādīti bahuvrīhirāśrito bhavati, tena sarvasya sahasyādeḥ sanumkasya samudāyasyāṅgasaṃjñā siddhyati-- iti tadādivacanaṃ syādinumartham. ādigrahaṇena prakṛtipratyayasya madhyavartināṃ pratyayāgamānāṃ grahaṇam; numa āgamopalakṣaṇatvāt. tadāderaṅgasaṃtretyarthalābhāya. tatprakṛtirūpamādiryasya tat–tadādi.
napuṃsakavāśācchabdarūpamityadhyāhāryam. tadāha–tadādi śabdasvarūpamiti. prakṛte ca
rāmaśabdasya prakṛtimātrasya tadāditvaṃ vyabhūdhātorlaṭ. mip. kartari śavabiti
vikaraṇasaṃjñaḥ śap. guṇāvādeśau ato dīrgho yañīti bhavetyaṅgasya dīrghaḥ. bhavāmīti
