These three triads of conjugational affixes, which have received the name of Lowest &c., are called (as regard the three expressions in each triad) severally "the expression for one" (singular), "the expression for two" (dual), and "the expression for many" (plural). Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0

Those (tāni) = [three and three triplets of tiṄ 101] taken one by one (ekaśáḥ) have the [t.tt. 1] ekavacaná `singular, dvivacaná `dual' and bahuvacaná `plural' to denote them respectively (1.3.10).
