[Ātmanepadá l-substitutes are introduced after the verbal stem 12] vad- `speak' (1.1.58) to express the sense of (1) be brilliant (bhāsana), (2) conciliate (upasambhāṣā), (3) know (jñāna), (4) exert (yatná), (5) disagreement (vimatí) and (6) coaxing in secret (upamántraṇa), seduction.
