ādiḥ iti kim? sabhāsannayate bhavaḥ sābhāsannayanaḥ. vā nāmadheyasya vṛddhasaṃjñā vaktavyā.
devadattīyāḥ. daivadattāḥ. gotrāntādasamastavatpratytyo bhavatīti vaktavyam.

ityenenānaco'pi sato'ckāryakaraṇāt. na ca mukye sati gauṇasyāśrayaṇaṃ yuktam, gauṇamukhyayormukhye kāryasaṃpratyayāt, naiṣa doṣaḥ; vyāptenryāyādākārasyāpi gauṇamactvamāśritya bhaviṣyati,anyathā hraijgrahaṇameva kuryāt, na vṛddhigrahaṇam. "śālīyaḥ,

nanu ca śālāmālāśabdayoḥ kāpaṭuśabdasya ca saṃjñayā na bhavitavyam, na hreṣāṃ
vṛddhisaṃjñaka ādiḥ,kiṃ tarhi? hal,naitadevam; vidyamāno'pi hratra hal nāpekṣyate,ajapekṣasyāditvasyāśrayaṇāt. etadeva hrajgrahaṇasya prayojanam. kataṃ nāma tadapekṣa-
yāditvaṃ vijñāyeteti? anyathā tatra kartavyameva syāt. ajgrahaṇe kriyamāṇe satyamartho bhavati. acāṃ madhye yasya yo vṛddhisaṃjñako'jevādibhūta iti. anyebhyo'jbhyo
yasya vṛddhisaṃjñakaḥ prāguccāryata iti yāvat. tena śālāśabdāderapi saṃjñā sidhyati.
"sābhāsannayanaḥ" iti. atra vṛddhisaṃjñābhāvādaṇeva bhavati, na tu cchaḥ. yadi punarā-digrahaṇaṃ na kriyeta tato yasyāpyacāṃ madhye vṛddhisaṃjñakaḥ kaścit sabhāsannayanādesta-
syāpyeṣā saṃjñā syāt. atra yadyapi vṛddhiśabdaḥ śrūyate, tathāpi talliṅgakapari-
bhāṣā nopatiṣṭhate. yasamād yatra niyatasthānike guṇavṛddhī vidhīyate tatra sthāniniyamārthāsā vyāpriyate. etacca prāgevoktam. na ceha guṇavṛddhyorvidhānam, ato nātra
vyāpārastasyāḥ. tena yasyāpyaniyatasthāniko vṛddhisaṃjñaka ādibhūtaḥ, tasyāpi saṃjñā
siddhā bhavati. "vā nāmadheyasya" ityādi. ye puruṣaivryavahārāya saṃkītryamānāḥ śabdā
devadatta ityevamādayaḥ, teṣāmeṣā saṃjñā veditavyā. teṣveva nāmadheyaśabdo rūḍhaḥ,na tu ye jātyādinimittakā gavādiśabdā anādivyavahārāntaḥ pātinasteṣu. nanu ca
kāśyādipāṭhāt "kāśyādibhyaḥ" 4.2.115 ṭhañ()ñiṭhābhyāṃ bhavitavyam, tadayuktaṃ
devadattīya iti cchapratyayāntasyodāharaṇam, naiṣa doṣaḥ; yo hi devaidatto devadatta iti
kriyānimittako devadattaśabdaḥ, tasyaiva tatra pāṭhaḥ,na saṃjñāśabdasya. tena saṃjñābhūtāddevadatta śabdād yadā vṛddhasaṃjñā tadā cho bhavati,anyathā tvaṇ.
