"yasminan vidhistadādāvalgrahaṇam" (vyā.pa.127) iti ajādāviti draṣṭavyam. parasminniti ca prakṛtvāt parasminnajādāviti gamyate.
atha vā - dvarvacanasya pratyayaviśeṣanimittvād dvirvacanagrahaṇena pratyayaḥ sannidhāpitaḥ, tenājādau pratyaya iti pratīyate. yadi tahrrajādāvajādeśaḥ sthānivadbhavati, "papau" iti na sidhyati, na hrajādāvādeśaḥ, kiṃ tarhi? acyeva; ihāpi vyapadeśivadbhāvenā-jāditvamastītyadoṣaḥ. iha tarhi na sidhyati-- "cakratuḥ" iti; acyeva tu yaṇādeśo vidhīyate, na tvajādau? naiṣa doṣaḥ; yo hratrāci yaṇādeśo vidhīyate so'jādāvapi bhavatyeva. yadi dvirvacananimitte'cyajādeśaḥ sthānivadbhavati sarvasyāmavasthāyāṃ dvirvacanāduttarakālamapi syādityata āha--"dvirvacana eva katrtavye" iti. evakāreṇa dvirvacana kriyā-

tatraikena dvirvacanagrahaṇena "dvarvacananimitte'ci" ittheṣo'rtho labhyate. dvitīyena tu "dvirvacana eva katrtavye" iti. iha dvirvacane katrtavye sthānivadbhāvo
vidhīyate ita dvirvacanakāryārthaṃ evaiṣa pratīyate. sāckasya dvirvacanaṃ vidhīyamānamanacka-
sya na prāpnoti yujyate dvirvacanakāryārthatvamasya. "dvarvacanakāryārthatvamasya. "dvirvacanakāryārthe tvasmin --"cakratuḥ,cakruḥ" ityatrāsyānackasya dvirvacane kṛte satīṣṭamabhyāsarūpaṃ na sidhyati" itivyāmohād yo manyate, taṃ pratyāha--
"rūpātideśaścāyam" iti. "ca" śabdo'vadhāraṇe, rūpātideśa eva, na kāryātideśa ityarthaḥ. kutaḥ punareṣa niścayaḥ-sa "rūpātidheśaścāyam" iti? ajgrahaṇāt. tasya hretat prayojanam-- "jeghrīyate dedhmīyate" ityatra mā bhūditi. yadi cāyaṃ dvirvacanakāryātideśaḥ syānna rūpātideśaḥ; ajgrahaṇamanarthakaṃ syāt. bhavatvatra sthānivadbhāvaḥ, tathāpi na kaści-dviśeṣaḥ. tathā hi-- yadyapyatra sthānivadbhāvaḥ, evamapi dvirvacanakāryeṇa bhavitavyam; athāpi na sthānivadbhāvaḥ, evamapi bhavitavyam--ubhayatrāpi sāckatvāt, tataśca kathametat
pratyudāharaṇam? tadetadajgrahaṇaṃ kathamarthavad bhavati? yadyeṣa rupādeśaḥ rarūpe'syātidi-
śyamāne yadyajgrahaṇaṃ na kriyate tadihāpi rūpātideśe sati dhrā iti, dhmā iti ca dvi-rvacanaṃ syāt, tathā'niṣṭamabhyāsarūpaṃ prasajyeta. tasmādajgrahaṇād rūpātideśo'ya-
miti niścīyate. yadyevam, bhedanibandhano vatirnaṃ prāpnoti; sthānyeva hi punarātmīyaṃ rūpaṃ prāpita iti kuto bhedaḥ? ātideśikānāmatideśikatvena rūpabhedasya vivakṣitatvādadoṣaḥ.
"dvirvacana eva katrtavye" iti yaduktaṃ tasyārthaṃ vispaṣṭīkartumāha--"niyatakālaḥ" iti. kṛte dvirvacane ityādinā tadeva niyakālatvaṃ darśayati.
"jaghnatuḥ" iti. "abhyāsācca" 7.3.55 iti hakārasya kutvam.
"āṭiṭat" iti. aṭaterhetumati ṇic; luṅ, caṅa, "caṅi" 6.1.11 iti "ajāde-
rdvitīyasya" 6.1.2 iti dvirvacanam. "āḍajādīnām"6.4.72 ityāḍ bhavati.
"ninaya" ityādi. "ṇaluttamo vā" 7.1.91 iti yadā ṇittvaṃ nāsti tadā guṇaḥ, yadā ṇitvaṃ tadā vṛddhiḥ.

dvirvacanamasminnastītyarśāadyac. tadetadāha– dvitvanimitte'cīti. iha `acaḥ
parasmi'nnityato'ca iti, `sthānivadādeśaḥ' ityasmādādeśa iti, `na padānte'tyato
neti cānuvartate. tadāha– aca ādeśo na syāditi. yadyapīhi vṛttyādau– `ajādeśaḥ
sthānivatsyā'diti rūpātideśapakṣaḥ svīkṛtaḥ phalaṃ cobhayatra tulyaṃ,
tathāpyādeśaniṣedhapakṣo'pi bhāṣyārūḍha iti sa evātra svīkṛtaḥ. kiṃ ca ādeśamaṅgīkṛtya

ghrāghmo'riti īkāraḥ, `ayaṅ yi kṅitī'tyayahādeśasca niṣidhyeta, sa mābhūditi
prāñcaḥ. anye tvāhuḥ– acīti vyarthaṃ, ghrīy-dhmīy-śayy iti
dvitīyā'javadhikasyaikācaḥ kāryitayā yaṅo dvitvanimitatvā'bhāvāditi. acaḥ kim ?.
asūṣupat. iha `svāpeścaṅī'ti yatsaṃprasāraṇaṃ tasminniṣiddhe'bhyāse uvarṇo na

spaṣṭam. tathā ca ūrṇoteḥ sani `sanīvante'tīṭ pakṣe `vibhāṣorṇo'riti ṅittvavirahe
ūrṇunaviṣatīti siddham. sannantasya dvitvavidhāne'pi sano dvitvaprayojakatvena
tasminpare prāptayorguṇā'vādeśayordvitve kartavye niṣedhāt. ata evāhuḥ–
- `tadbhāvabāvitāmātreṇeha nimittatva'miti. evaṃ ca dvitvanimittaghaṭakatayā sana
iḍāgamo'tusa akāraśca dvitvanimittamiti sthitam. nanvevam, ṛdātoḥ sani
`smipūṅrañjvaśāṃ sanī'tīṭi kṛte isśabdanimittakasya guṇasya `dvirvacane'cī'ti
niṣedhe `ajāderdvitīyasye'ti dvitvaprasaṅgādaririṣatīti na sidhyet.

guṇaniṣedhācchayitarīti rūpasyā'siddhyāpatteḥ. na ca `kiti ṅiti pare guṇavṛddhī ne'ti
vyākhyāyamukte'rthe śayitarīti na jñāpakamiti vācyaṃ, tadvyākhyāyāṃ chinnaṃ
bhinnamityatra guṇaniṣedho na syādityādidoṣasya `kṅiti ce'ti sūtra
evopapāditatvāt. na caivaṃ kāryiṇo nimittatvā'nāśrayaṇe sannantasya
kāryitvātatsani parataḥ prāptayorguṇāvādeśayoraniṣedhādūrṇunaviṣatītyapi na syāditi
vācyaṃ, matvarthīyeneninā kāryamanubhavata evaṃ kāryitvā'lābhāt. ūrṇoterhi nuśabda

dvirvacane'ci 70, 1.1.58 acā sāmānādhikaraṇyalābhāya dvirvacanaśabdasya tannimitte lakṣaṇā svīkriyate. yadvā-- ucyata iti vacanaṃ, dviḥ-- vacanaṃ yasminnaci taddvirvacanam. athavā dvirvacanamasminnastītyarśāadyac. tadetadāha-- dvitvanimitte'cīti. iha "acaḥ parasmi"nnityato'ca iti, "sthānivadādeśaḥ" ityasmādādeśa iti, "na padānte"tyato neti cānuvartate. tadāha-- aca ādeśo na syāditi. yadyapīhi vṛttyādau-- "ajādeśaḥ sthānivatsyā"diti rūpātideśapakṣaḥ svīkṛtaḥ phalaṃ cobhayatra tulyaṃ, tathāpyādeśaniṣedhapakṣo'pi bhāṣyārūḍha iti sa evātra svīkṛtaḥ. kiṃ ca ādeśamaṅgīkṛtya punaḥ sthānirūpāśrayaṇāpekṣayā niṣedhaparatayā vyākhyānameva laghu. "prakṣālanāddhipaṅkasya dūrādasparśanaṃ vara"miti nyāyāt. "na padānte"ti niṣedhānantaraṃ pāṭho'pyevaṃ satyanugṛhīta iti śreyānayaṃ pakṣaḥ.iṣṭānurodena dvirvacana ityāvarttya kālāvadhāraṇaparatayāpi vyācaṣṭe-- dvitve kartavye iti. kṛte tu dvitve yathāyathamādeśaḥ syādeveti bhāvaḥ. dvitvanimitte kim?. dudyūṣatītyatra dvitvātparatvādūṭhi kṛte yadi yaṇaḥ pūrvameva dvitvaṃ syāttadā didyūṣatītyaniṣṭaṃ rūpaṃ syāttanmābhūditi dvitvanimitta ityuktam. nahrūṭh dvitvanimittam. acīti kim?. jeghrīyate. dedhmīyate. śāśayyate. iha "ī ghrāghmo"riti īkāraḥ, "ayaṅ yi kṅitī"tyayahādeśasca niṣidhyeta, sa mābhūditi prāñcaḥ. anye tvāhuḥ-- acīti vyarthaṃ, ghrīy-dhmīy-śayy iti dvitīyā'javadhikasyaikācaḥ kāryitayā yaṅo dvitvanimitatvā'bhāvāditi. acaḥ kim?. asūṣupat. iha "svāpeścaṅī"ti yatsaṃprasāraṇaṃ tasminniṣiddhe'bhyāse uvarṇo na śrūyet. na ca dvitve kṛte "yūna" ityatreva "na saṃprasāraṇe" iti pūrvasya yaṇaḥ saṃprasāraṇaniṣedhāt. syādetat--- cakraturityatra aca ādeśasya niṣedhā'pravṛttyā yaṇ syādeva. atuso dvitvanimittatve'pyakārasyā'tathātvāt. na ca "dvirvacane'cī"tyasya vaiyathryaṃ, cakre ityādau sāvakāśatvāt. tathā caikāctvā'bhāvāt "liṭi dhāto"ritīha dvitvaṃ na syāditi cet. maivam. iha dvitvanimittaśabdenasākṣādvā, samudāyaghaṭakatayā vā yaddvitvaprayojakaṃ, lakṣyānurodhena tasya sarvasya grahaṇāt. etacca "ṭhasyekaḥ" iti sūtre kaiyaṭe spaṣṭam. tathā ca ūrṇoteḥ sani "sanīvante"tīṭ pakṣe "vibhāṣorṇo"riti ṅittvavirahe ūrṇunaviṣatīti siddham. sannantasya dvitvavidhāne'pi sano dvitvaprayojakatvena tasminpare prāptayorguṇā'vādeśayordvitve kartavye niṣedhāt. ata evāhuḥ--- "tadbhāvabāvitāmātreṇeha nimittatva"miti. evaṃ ca dvitvanimittaghaṭakatayā sana iḍāgamo'tusa akāraśca dvitvanimittamiti sthitam. nanvevam, ṛdātoḥ sani "smipūṅrañjvaśāṃ sanī"tīṭi kṛte isśabdanimittakasya guṇasya "dvirvacane'cī"ti niṣedhe "ajāderdvitīyasye"ti dvitvaprasaṅgādaririṣatīti na sidhyet. ris()śabdanimittakasya ditve tu yadyapi sidhyati tathāpi guṇaniṣedhe ris()śabda eva durlabha iti cet. atrāhuḥ-- guṇe rapare kṛte nimittatayā''śrīyate, "sthaṇḍilācchayitarivrate" iti jñāpakāt. anyathā śīṅo ṅitvena "kṅiti ce"ti guṇaniṣedhācchayitarīti rūpasyā'siddhyāpatteḥ. na ca "kiti ṅiti pare guṇavṛddhī ne"ti vyākhyāyamukte'rthe śayitarīti na jñāpakamiti vācyaṃ, tadvyākhyāyāṃ chinnaṃ bhinnamityatra guṇaniṣedho na syādityādidoṣasya "kṅiti ce"ti sūtra evopapāditatvāt. na caivaṃ kāryiṇo nimittatvā'nāśrayaṇe sannantasya kāryitvātatsani parataḥ prāptayorguṇāvādeśayoraniṣedhādūrṇunaviṣatītyapi na syāditi vācyaṃ, matvarthīyeneninā kāryamanubhavata evaṃ kāryitvā'lābhāt. ūrṇoterhi nuśabda eva dvitvarūpaṃ kāryamanubhavati, na tu san. aririṣatītyatra tu ris()śabdaḥ kāryabhāgiti vaiṣamyāditi.
