sthānī āśraya eṣāmiti bahuvrīhiḥ. "analāśrayeṣu" iti. ala āśraya eṣāmiti bahuvrīhi
kṛtvā na aḻāśrayāṇi analāśrayāṇīti nañsamāsaḥ. anantaroktamevārthaṃ vispaṣṭīkartṛmāha- "sthānyalāśrayāṇi" ityādi. sthānī al āśrayoyeṣāṃ tāni tathoktāni. āśrayagraha-ṇena sūtre yo'lvidhiśabdaḥ, so'lāśrayo vidhiralvidhirityuttarapadalopī samāsa iti
darśayati. sa punaḥ samāso mayūravyaṃsakāditvāt samāsaṃ kṛtvā nañsamāsaḥ kṛtaḥ. na
alvidhiranalvidhiḥ" iti. punaralāśrayo vidhiḥ? yo varṇamātrāśritaḥ. yastu samudāyā-
śritaḥ so'nalāśrayaḥ. kāryaśabdena kmasādhanena vidhiśabdasyārthamācakṣāṇaḥ "vidhīyate"
iti vidhiriti tasya karmasādhatvaṃ darśayati.
"kimudāharaṇayiti praśnaḥ. "dhātvādyādeśāḥ prayojanam" ityuttaram.
prayujyate'neneti prayojanam, udāharaṇena ca prayujyata iti. arthāt praśnānurūpaṃ
prativacanam.
nanu cārdhadhātuke parato bhāvyamādeśābhyām, tatra kimatrādeśenetyata āha-
"ārdhadhātuke viṣaye" iti. "prakṛtya" ityādi. "kugati" 2.2.18 ityādinā samāsaḥ,
"samāse'nañpūrve ktvo lyap" 7.1.37.
"dadhikam" iti. dadhnā saṃskṛtamiti "dadhnaṣṭhak" 4.2.17. "adyatanam" iti.
"sāyaṃciram" 4.3.23 ityādinā ṭa()upratyayaḥ, tuḍāgamaśca, yoranādeśaḥ.
"akurutāmkurutam" iti. kṛño laṅ, "tasthasthamipām" 3.4.101 ityādinā tasastām, thasastam, tanāditvāt "tanādikṛñbhya uḥ" 3.1.79, dhātorguṇaḥ. "ata ut
sārvadhātuke" 6.4.110.
grāmo vṛ svam, janapado naḥ svam" iti. yuṣmadasmadoḥ ṣaṣṭhī, "bahuvacanasya
vasnasau" 8.1.21 iti vasnasādeśau.
"vatkaraṇaṃ kim" iti? vināpi tena tadartho gamyate, yathā "asaṃyogālliṭ
kit" 1.2.5 ityādāvityabhiprāyaḥ. "sthāno" ityādi. prāyeṇa hrasmin pāde "vṛddhirādaic" 1.1.1 ityādīni sūtrāṇi saṃjñāsaṃjñisambandhārthānyeva dṛṣṭāni. ato'sati vatkaraṇe sthānyādeśasya saṃjñā vidhīyata iti vijñāyate. tadevaṃ mā vijñāyī-
tyevamarthaṃ vatkaraṇam. kimarthaṃ punaḥ sthānyādeśasya saṃjñā neṣyata ityāha-- "svāśrayamapi" ityādi. saṃjñā hisaṃjñipratyayanārthā na svataḥ kāryaṃ pratipadyate, api tu tatpratyāyitaḥ saṃjñīti. atra yadi sthānyādeśasya saṃjñā syāt, ādeśasyaiva hi
saṃjñinaḥ kāryaṃ syāt,na saṃjñābhūtasya sthāninaḥ. tataśca "āṅo yamahanaḥ" 1.3.28 iti
vadherādatmanepadaṃ syāt, na hanteḥ.vatkaraṇe tu satyatideśo'yaṃ bhavati, atideśena cānya-

sthūlaḥ" ityukte'ntareṇāpyatra putragrahaṇaṃ sambandhiśabdatvāt putra iti gamyate,tathā sthānivadityukte vināpyādeśagrahaṇena sambandhiśabdatvādādeśa eva sthānivad
bhavatīti vijñāyata ityabhiprāyaḥ. "ānumānikasya" ityādi. "asterbhūḥ" 2.4.52 ityādau sthānyapi śabdena sākṣāt pratyāyyate, ādeśo'pi. pacatvityatra sthānyapi,
ānumānika ādeśo'pi. tathā hi- "eruḥ" 3.4.86 ityatra na vastuta ikāra eva sthānī
, api tu tiśabdaḥ. nāpyukāramātra ādeśaḥ, tarhi? tuśabdaḥ. lāghavārthaṃ tu tadekadeśayo-rikārokārayoruccāraṇam. tenaikadeśadvāreṇa samudāyasya samudāya evādeśo vidhīyate. tatra
yathā viṣāṇenaikadeśenopalabdhena viṣāṇī samudāyo'numīyate, tathaikadeśenekāreṇokāreṇa tiśabdastuśabdaśca. atra ca śāstre yasya ca kriyābisambandhaḥ sākṣācchabdādeva pratīyate,
yasya ca kutaścidarthaprakaraṇāderanumīyate,tayoḥ pūrvasya prādhānyamitarasya viparyaya
iṣyate. tathā hi- "sahayukte'pradhāne" 2.3.19 ityatra vṛttikāraḥ "putreṇa sahāgataḥ" ityādyudāhmatya vakṣyati- "pituratra kriyādisambandhaḥ śabdenocyate, putrasya tu pratīyamāna iti tasyāprādhānyam" iti. pradhānetarayośca sannidhāne pradhānasyaiva
kāryeṇa sampratyayo yuktaḥ. tathā cāha- "pradhāne kāryasampratyayāt siddham" iti.
atra hi yadyādeśa ita nocyeta, tato ya ādeśaśabdenopādāya vidhīyamānatvāt prādhānyamanubhavati tasyaiva sthānivadbhāvaḥ syāt, nāpradhānasyānumānikasya. tasmāt tasyāpi sthāni-vadbhāvo yathā syādityevamādeśagrahaṇam. tena pacatvityādāvapi "suptiṅantaṃ padam" (1.414) iti padasaṃjñā siddhā bhavati. kutaḥ punaretavavasīyate? "eruḥ" 3.4.86 ityanenaikadeśa-dvāreṇa tuḥśabdaḥ samudāyo vidhīyate, na punaryathāśrutamikāramātrasyokāramātrameveti; pacatvityatra padasaṃjñākāryopalabdheḥ, taddhi na vinā padasaṃjñayā, sāpi na vinā tiṅavad
bhāvena, so'pi na vinā samudāyodeśeneti. tasmin hi sati sthānivadbhāvena yatna-
pratipāditena tiṅabhāvo labhyate; nānyatheti gatametat. athānumānike gṛhīte kathamitarasya
grahaṇaṃ labhyate? evaṃ manyate sthānivadityetāvāneko yogaḥ katrtavyaḥ, etena yogenādeśaḥ pradhānabhūtaḥ sambandhiśabdatvāllabhyate. tata ādeśa dvitīyo yogaḥ, ānumānikasya sthāni-

rāmāya. iha `supi ce'ti dīrghasya yañādisubāśrayasya ādeśagatayakārarūpālāśrayatve'pi
tasmin kartavye yādeśasya sthānivadbhāvena suptvaṃ bhavatyeva, dīrghasya
ādeśagatayakārarūpālāśrayatve'pi sthānyalāśrayatvā'bhāvāt. na ca nīñdhātorṇbuli
akādeśe vṛddhau nai-aka iti sthite aikārasya sthānivadbhāvena īkāradharmakatvādāyādeśo na
syāt, īkārasya āyādeśābhāvāditi vācyam, iha hi sthāniprayuktaṃ yat kāryaṃ
śāstrīyaṃ tadevātidiśyate. īkārasya ca āyādeśabhāvo na śāstravihita iti na tasya
īkārasthānike aikāre atideśa ityāstāṃ tāvat. aneneti. udāhmatena sthānivatsūtreṇa
iha=sudhy ityatra īkārasthānikasya yakārasya sthānivadbhāvena
ackāryakāritvamāśritya aci na dvitvamityarthakena anacītyanena dhakārasya
