saudāsa सौदास
Definition: In the plural designates the ‘descendants of Sudās,' who are referred to in the Jaiminlya Brāhmaṇa as having cast śakti, the son of Vasiṣtha, into the fire. Other texts relate that Vasiṣtha, his son being slain, desired to avenge himself on the Saudāsas, and eventually succeeded. Geldner sees a reference to the story in the Rigveda, but without cause.
