It also occurs in the compounds isu-dhaηva, ‘ bow and arrow,’ ājya-dhaηva, ‘ having clarified butter for its bow,’ adhijya-dhaηva, ‘ bow with string fixed,’ etc. Cf. Dhanus. dhanva n Desert,’ is repeatedly mentioned in the Rigveda and later. Death from thirst in the desert was not rare, and the value of a spring in the desert was fully appreciated.
