daidhiṣavya Is mentioned in a Mantra of the Taittirīya Samhitā. Apparently the word (as derived from Didhisū) denotes the son of a younger sister married before the elder sister, rather than the son of a woman twice married, the explanation of the St. Petersburg Dictionary.
daiva Appears in the list of sciences in the Chāndogya Upanisad, where Sankara explains it as utpāta- jñāna, apparently the knowledge of portents.’ The St. Peters¬burg Dictionary suggests that the word is here used adjectivally, and this view is followed by Little and by Bohtlingk in his translation.
daiva Is the patronymic of the mythical Atharvan in the first two Vamśas (lists of teachers) of the Brhadāranyaka Upanisad.
daivala ‘Descendant of Devala,’ is the patronymic of Asita in the Pañcavimśa Brāhmana.
daivāpa ‘Descendant of Devāpi,’ is the patronymic of Indrota in the śatapatha Brāhmana and the Jaiminīya Upanisad Brāhmana. No connexion can be traced with the Devāpi of the Rigveda.
daivavāta Descendant of Devavāta,’ is the patronymic of Srñjaya, probably the Srñjaya king, in the Rigveda. He is mentioned as a devotee of the fire cult, and as victorious over the Turvaśa king and the Vrcīvants. According to Zimmer, his name was Abhyāvartin Cāyamāna Pārthava (‘ descendant of Prthu ’), but Hillebrandt4 recognizes this as doubtful, though he none the less places the Srñjayas to the west of the Indus with Divodāsa. What is more important is to note that the name suggests connexion with the Bharata Devavāta, and as Kurus and Srñjayas were closely connected this is not immaterial.
daivāvṛdha ‘Descendant of Devāvrdha,’ is the patronymic of Babh.ru in the Aitareya Brāhmana.
daivodāsi ‘Descendant of Divodāsa,’ is the patronymic of Pratardana in the Kausītaki Brāhmana and the Kausītaki Upanisad. It is impossible to ascertain whether the famous Divodāsa is meant.
daiyāṃpāti Descendant of Dayāmpāta,’ is the name of a teacher of the east, who was instructed by Sāçdilyāyana* according to the Satapatha Brāhmana in the lore of the construction of the fire-altar. The same patronymic is given, in the form of Dayyāmpāti, to Plaksa, the contemporary of Atyamhas in the Taittirīya Brāhmana.
indrota daivāpa śaunaka Is mentioned in the śatapatha Brāhmana as the priest who officiated at the horse sacrifice of Janamejaya, although this honour is attributed in the Aitareya Brāhmana to Tura Kāvaseya. He also appears in the Jaiminīya Upanisad Brāhmana as a pupil of Sruta, and is mentioned in the Vamśa Brāhmana. He cannot be connected in any way with Devāpi, who occurs in the Rigveda
babhru daivāvṛdha Is mentioned in the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa as a pupil of Parvata and Nārada.

jātigenus; class;universal;the notion of generality which is present in the several individual objects of the same kindeclinable The biggest or widest notion of the universal or genus is सत्ता which, according to the grammarians, exists in every object or substance, and hence, it is the denotation or denoted sense of every substantive or Pratipadika, although on many an occasion vyakti or an individual object is required for daily affairs and is actually referred to in ordinary talks. In the Mahabhasya a learned discussion is held regarding whether जाति is the denotation or व्यक्ति is the denotation. The word जाति is defined in the Mahabhasya as follows:आकृतिग्रहणा जातिर्लिङ्गानां च न सर्वभाक् । Mahābhāṣya of Patañjali on the Sūtras of Pāṇini (Dr. Kielhorn's edition ). on IV. 1.63.
