rajanī रजनी

Definition: Is found in one passage of the Atharvaveda, where it denotes some sort of plant, probably so called because of its power of ‘colouring’ (from rañj, ‘to colour’). The species cannot be identified owing to the untrustworthiness of the later authorities who attempt its identification.
