Definition: n. of an island (which with its coral reef or bridge of rocks nearly connects the South of India with Ceylon) and of the celebrated śaiva- temple and town on it (this is the place where rāma- is supposed to have crossed to Ceylon and one of the most sacred places of pilgrimage in India)
