mūkaṃ मूकं

Definition: मूकं a. [मू-कक्] 1 Dumb, silent, mute, speechless; मूकं करोति वाचालम्; मूकाण्डजम् (काननम्) Ku.3.42; सखीमियं वीक्ष्य विषादमूकाम् Gīt.7; मूकीभूतघण्टास्वरास्वन्तःपुरदोलासु K.9; मूकीभूतवीणा K.132. -2 Poor, miserable, wretched. -कः 1 A mute; मौनान्मूकः H.2.26. v. l.; Ms.7.149. -2 A poor or miserable man. -3 A fish. -4 The offspring of a mule and a mare. -का A crucible; see मूषा -Comp. -अण्डज a. (a forest) whose birds are silent; Ku. -अम्बा a form of Durgā. -भावः silence, muteness, dumbness (also मूकता, -त्वम् in this sense).
